Creating network aliases and printing on a Mac

These instructions are compatible with Mac OS  10.7 (Lion), 10.8 (Mountain Lion), 10.9 (Mavericks), and 10.10 (Yosemite). You must be logged into your Google Apps Account to complete these instructions, which were written with Mac 10.7.5 (Lion).

 

This is a two step process:

  1. Installing network aliases
  2. Installing network print drivers

1. Installing network aliases

Connecting to network drives – Mac tutorial from the IT KnowledgeBase Video Library.

 

  1. Follow the Temporarily disable Gatekeeper instructions if you have a Mac 10.8 (Mountain Lion) or newer operating system
  2. Click MACscripts.zip
  3. At the Opening MACscripts.zip dialog box, select Save File, and then click OK
  4. When you receive the following dialog box, click OK

  5. When prompted, enter your DePauw Account username, and then click OK

  6. When prompted, enter your DePauw Account (network) password, and then click OK

  7. When prompted, select your association with DePauw

  8. Open the bouncing MacScripts icon in the dock
  9. Click OK

  10. Double-click the appropriate alias to log into the network drive

2. To install network print drivers

  1. Delete any network printers you may have previously installed
  2. In the MACSCRIPTS window, double-click mapNetworkPrintersMac10.9

  3. If the following warning displays, click Open

  4. Click OK

  5. Enter your DePauw (network) username, click OK

  6. Enter your DePauw (network) password, click OK

  7. Choose the printer(s) you would like to install (Note: Hold down the command (Apple) key when clicking to select multiple printers.), then click OK to install printers (Note: If your printer is not listed, please contact the HelpDesk at (765) 658-4294 or helpdesk@depauw.edu.)

  8. In the Network Printer Setup Complete window, click OK
